Moving Transport from CDM to NAMAs
June 9, 2011
Gustav Stresemann InstitutBonn, Germany
The transport sector contributes to 23% of energy-related CO2 emissions internationally. It is also the fastest growing sector in terms of GHG emissions in developing countries. The CDM didn’t work in the sector; will Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) deliver?
The event will present the latest thinking on Transport NAMAs and discuss these with governmental representatives and world leading experts in the field: What is needed to make transport NAMAs a success in the transport sector and overcome shortcomings of the CDM? How transport NAMAs and the measurement of emissions could look like in practice? How to match international support (financing, capacity building and technology transfer) with the development and implementation of NAMAs?
A detailed agenda will be made available closer to the date. Please keep tuned to our website www.transport2012.org for the most up-to-date information.
