  • The European Environment Agency (EEA) released its “Annual Management Plan 2013” outlining the EEA work programme which will address a broad range of issues including: air quality and noise; air pollutant emissions; climate change mitigation; climate change adaptation; energy; and transport.
  • Indonesia submitted the "Sustainable Urban Transport Initiative" as a Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Action (NAMA) seeking support for implementation. The initiative aims at fostering sustainable urban transport in Indonesian cities through the adoption of measures to stop the increasing motorization in the country and diminish existing externalities of transportation.
  • A report prepared for the Nordic Working Group for Global Climate Negotiations (NOAK) finds that synergies between climate change adaptation and mitigation can foster a more efficient, responsive and comprehensive climate policy.
  • The Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) has reported on the conclusion of Acclimate, a four-year project dedicated to climate change adaptation. The culmination of the project’s work, a regional strategy for climate change adaption, was adopted by the IOC’s 28th Council of Ministers on 17 January 2013, in the Seychelles.
  • The International Energy Agency (IEA) has published a report detailing how the Nordic region can become carbon-neutral by 2050. The report, titled “Nordic Energy Technology Perspectives: Pathways to a Carbon Neutral Energy Future,” is IEA’s first regional edition of its flagship publication series “Energy Technology Perspectives.”
  • The ADB project is supporting the expansion of "green" bus services in the People's Republic of China, an initiative that will benefit low-income commuters, improve air quality and reduce GHG emissions. The initiative is in line with the $175 billion commitment made at the June 2012 UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) by multilateral development banks to improve transport in developing countries between 2012 and 2022.
  • The Organization of Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) environmental performance reviews of its member countries are now in their third cycle, focusing on performance and on selected issues of high priority for the reviewed countries. The newly released Mexico report covers: key environmental trends, policy-making environment, towards green growth, climate change, and biodiversity and forests.
  • The UNCTAD 2012 Review of Maritime Trade addresses technology measures and options for policies and financing to transform the growth of international freight transport towards more fuel-efficient, cost effective, environmentally friendly, low-carbon, and climate resilient systems.
  • The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will be funding and inland navigation and hydropower generation project on the Xiang River in Hunan Province, China that will improve river navigation and increase generation of clean energy.
